Courtyard San Antonio Airport

The staff are some of the best to work with, friendly and helpful. The location was good, everything I needed was nearby, and the kitchen was good. The room was surprisingly quiet and clean. But the ADA room I requested wasn't accessible: it had grab bars and nothing else, just a tub with no seat. The beds were uncomfortable, and the pillows felt paper-thin and somehow like cardboard at the same time.

I arrived at 2am after a flight delay, and the doors were locked with nobody in the building. I waited 20 minutes, called, knocked, and tried the intercom repeatedly. The night associate was at another building, another hotel, chatting with its staff. I found him while looking for a room there because this Courtyard seemed closed despite my reservation. He didn't seem to care that I'd been waiting. I asked for a manager to call the next day, but nobody did. This raises serious safety concerns, and I wouldn't recommend the hotel for cleanliness or safety. The property is dated and an embarrassment to the Marriot brand, nothing like what you'd expect. It desperately needs renovation. Check the reviews on the Marriot site too.

I wasn't very comfortable staying there. I saw people hanging out behind the hotel, and it seemed like some people might be living there, though I'm not sure. It didn't feel like many other properties I've stayed at. It was also one of the few Marriott properties I've been to that didn't offer free breakfast.

Our room had a musty mildew smell that filled the place, and there was standing water and stains in the tub. The bathroom door wouldn't close, the closet doors wouldn't open more than six inches, and the pull-out bed was covered in stains with no spare linens or blankets. The three lamps together barely lit the room, so we used the TV for light. We'd booked a two-bed room weeks ahead for a tournament, but when we arrived I was told very aggressively that it had been given to someone else. Half the families traveling with us had the same thing happen. When my wife asked a question, the desk worker snapped at her, was extremely rude, and offered to “give you [us] more attitude if you [we] want it”. It was late, and there were few or no nearby rooms, so we let it go for the night. This was by far the worst of well over two dozen hotels I've stayed at in and around San Antonio. I hate that I have to give it a star, but hope this keeps others from going through that nightmare.
