This was a horrible stay. I experienced rude, abusive staff behavior and what I consider discriminatory conduct, unsafe conditions that caused an injury, a broken room amenity, harassment, threats, and emotional distress. The room's floor was in poor shape, with uneven wooden planks sticking up. I stumbled and fell because of it, hurting my knee. It swelled and hurt, though I didn't need emergency treatment. I have photos documenting the flooring. The microwave in the room also didn't work. These were serious safety and maintenance concerns, and the room wasn't properly operable. At my late-night check-in, which I'd told them about in advance, a woman who identified herself as hotel management made a racially derogatory comment. I politely asked to change from a single bed to a double, an option the Wyndham app showed at the same rate. She said, “Indians are always argumentative.” It was unprovoked and unacceptable. I had confirmed Diamond member late checkout until 1 p.m., but around noon the same woman confronted me aggressively, accused me of overstaying, and threatened extra charges. I showed her photos of the unsafe floor and explained my fall. She mocked and mimicked my injury, raised the tension, and made a scene in public. She chased my wife and me with a broomstick, yelled for us to leave immediately, and explicitly threatened to damage my car. Her husband, who was identified as the manager, backed her up in the parking lot. We left because we feared for our safety. The whole thing was threatening, humiliating, and emotionally distressing. This happened during year-end travel, right after another stressful travel incident, and affected both my wife and me emotionally and mentally. No guest, especially a loyal Diamond member, should face racial abuse, threats, or intimidation at a Wyndham property.
Update: the $50 deposit came back after three days. I stayed again and had another excellent, quiet night. I even met the “rude wife” people mention in other reviews. She was a bit off-putting, but I put it down to a cultural thing and wasn't offended. The bed was excellent, the shower pressure was excellent, and it was very quiet. This is one of San Antonio's best lesser-known hotels, and I highly recommend staying here. The local F16s from the AF were burning afterburners over the hotel every ten minutes at first, which made me worry. When that stopped around 8:30 p.m., I was surprised by how quiet it got. The lot was half full, but I only heard one other guest, who I think was across the hall. I slept so well that I woke up an hour before my alarm, which is rare for me. If the deposit came back soon after checkout, I'd definitely return. This might become my go-to place in San Antonio.
2/18/26: I finally got through to the business. After speaking with a woman, I was transferred to a man who said the deposit should be returned by the end of the week. I hope it does. Take care and be blessed. I stayed here last week for work, but the deposit still hasn't been refunded and I received no notice. I've called several times with no answer, just a machine asking for my “remote access code.” I'd appreciate an explanation about the refund.
The room had black spots on the walls that looked like mold, and there was mold on the restroom ceiling. The blankets looked really old, and the curtains were worn, torn, and see-through. The room smelled weird, too. The woman checking me in was rude within minutes. We left less than ten minutes after arriving.
The employees were upset by how rudely they were treated, and the room they were finally given was in disrepair. They checked out the next morning, cancelled the second night, and chose to drive four hours home after working a 12-hour event. I book rooms for employees going out of town for work events. This was the first time I've had to call repeatedly to make sure they wouldn't have check-in trouble and provide so many documents. Phillip, the front desk manager, assured me they were all set. But when they arrived, they were given a hard time because the credit card was in a different name, which was the whole issue we'd already gone back and forth about. The only explanation for the mishap was “miscommunication,” despite this being a fairly standard practice.
