Hotel 1914 - Historic Alamo Riverwalk, an Ascend Collection Hotel

We visited in January, during the off season, so another time may feel different. The breakfast is small and mostly cold, with instant oatmeal and waffles as the hot options. Staff were friendly enough and brought extra toiletries when we asked. Free hot tea and coffee are available around the clock, and there's a printer that's easy to use, plus a washer and dryer you can pay to use by the load. The room was clean and comfortable, and all the appliances worked. There's a bathroom smell in the hallways, but since it's an old building and we couldn't smell it in the room, it wasn't a major problem. The parking lot right next door is convenient. Our Choice Hotels membership got us a discount, so it was $15 a night. The hotel is right downtown, within walking distance of the Riverwalk.

We had a relaxing trip, and the staff were warm and ready to help whenever we needed anything. The room was clean, comfortable, and nicely arranged for a restful stay. The calm atmosphere made it easy to unwind, and the location worked out great. We'd definitely come back.

Hotel 1914 is right downtown, close to the River Walk and everything San Antonio has to offer, but it still felt quiet. The rooms are cozy, distinctive, and beautifully maintained, and there's a lot of character throughout the hotel. Staff were welcoming and friendly, and I appreciated the thoughtful details and relaxing feel. I'd happily stay again.

The rooms were clean and nice, and the desk staff were pleasant. It's less than a five minute walk to the Alamo and riverwalk. But the beds and pillows were hard as rocks, and the elevator was out the entire time we were there. Breakfast was grab and go, with very limited choices. The waffle syrup tasted like cheap old whiskey. Parking costs extra and the tag for the windshield wasn't cheap. Also, the restaurant attached to the hotel leaves the whole place smelling like it.
