Red Roof Inn San Antonio - Seaworld/ Northwest

The rooms are a real bargain for the price, and I love that they have stoves since I enjoy cooking. It's pet-friendly, so I can bring my dog, and all my favorite places are close. There's also a nearby restaurant with the best margaritas.

We couldn't find a hotel anywhere downtown until it was after hours, and Red Roof came through for us. After midnight, they found us a room in a convenient location and a safe neighborhood where we could rest for a few much-needed hours. They treated us with respect. Gracie gave us a good deal because we booked after hours. Thanks, Red Roof, you've made an advocate out of me.

It was noisy at night, and the Wi-Fi was awful. It wouldn't connect in our room, and my husband was told he couldn't sit outside our door to use it, even though it barely worked inside. The tub was gross and had badly peeling paint. I cut my hand trying to clean it enough to use, and the water never got hot. We booked a queen room through Priceline, but it was smaller than a queen, and we needed enough room to be comfortable with our three-legged cat. They sometimes have coffee early in the morning, but creamer is limited.

This place felt scary. When we arrived, four police units were outside dealing with an incident at the hotel. People who seemed possibly under the influence kept coming and going and riding the elevator. Our room door was already slightly open, and there was a girl hanging around in the hallway on our floor. We wondered if she'd been in our assigned room. My husband checked inside and things seemed okay, but the room smelled bad, the floors felt dirty and oily, the TV remote didn't work, the tub had nasty yellow stains, and the elevator button was broken. Since it was late, we decided to stay the night. We told the front desk what we'd seen, and he said there were cameras on every floor and he'd be up all night watching. Around 1 am, someone knocked on our door. We didn't sleep and left first thing in the morning. Don't stay here.
