Staybridge Suites San Antonio - Richland Hills an IHG Hotel

The location was great for us, with the valley hi gate just 15 minutes away. We were here for a basic military training graduation, and had a clean, spacious single king room with a kitchenette, apartment-sized fridge, and a huge clean shower. My wife and I enjoyed the pool. Breakfast was great on the mornings we didn’t need to be on base by 06:00, but it opens at 06:30, so it didn’t work on graduation days. Walmart is right behind the hotel, so we stocked up there. A C5 doing touch-and-go loops outside our window was a pretty damn cool bonus. If we’re back in San Antonio, we’ll definitely stay here again.

We came for our son’s Lackland graduation, and Alyssa was great about answering our questions. She even came up to our room to help with a TV problem. Another gentleman, who looked like Bill Murray (lol), brought extra towels for the Airman’s Parade in the rain and kindly helped us get a late checkout. The location is ideal, right in front of a huge Walmart, minutes from two malls, and about 20 minutes from the airport. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. If I’m in San Antonio again, this will be my first choice. Highly recommend!

We picked Staybridge Suites for our wedding room block while holding the reception in Castroville, and it worked out great. We were able to tour beforehand, which gave us confidence in the choice. The roomy suites, amenities, and shared spaces suited our out-of-town guests and gave the wedding parties space to get ready together. Alyssa was wonderful during the day, and the evening team helped with reservation problems and late arrivals, then let us gather in the common areas after the wedding. One staff member even helped move patio furniture while we cleaned up. Breakfast was good and convenient, coffee included. The gym and laundry were a big help, and Walmart and Target are nearby. The area was quiet and felt safe. We’d absolutely recommend this Staybridge Suites for a wedding block or group stay.

The hotel itself was good, but several things bothered me. Housekeeping was supposed to bring toilet paper, yet hours passed and I had to go down to the lobby for it. The walk-in shower looks nice, but water spills across the floor because of where the opening is. Our stovetop didn’t work, though we didn’t need it. The bathroom lights are controlled by the main switch at the front door, which I think is idiotic, and the safe in the closet was broken. My biggest issue was communication about the $100 incidental fee. I wasn’t told about it until arrival, and when I first asked, the return estimate changed from 2-4 days to 4-5 and then 7-10. It took four different days to reach Arlene, the manager of the SA stay bridge, even after an employee left her a callback note. I also emailed and got no response. When we finally spoke, she sounded annoyed, didn’t introduce herself or even say good morning or good afternoon, and blamed the employee for not writing down my number. I pointed out she could look up my information in their system, and she agreed. Communication among the staff doesn’t seem very good.
