Super 8 by Wyndham San Antonio/I-35 North

The rooms were very clean, and the comfortable beds and courteous staff made for a great stay. The whole property is kept up every day, including the hallways, front office, pool area, and grounds. You can tell the staff take real pride in their work and in maintaining the place. They’re always polite, professional, and attentive, and make you feel welcome and comfortable. 10 out of 10.

We cut our stay short because the room conditions left us no choice. At check-in, it hadn’t been cleaned properly, there was a lot of dust, and we had to wipe down several surfaces ourselves. There wasn’t any toilet paper. The sheets were stained, the pillows were so lumpy they couldn’t be used, and we saw several bugs. The toilet handle was broken and had to be held in place to flush; the shower drain also had to be held open by hand while using it. An unidentified stain on the chair made us uncomfortable sitting there. When I asked for an extra blanket, I was told none were available, which made me wonder how linens are changed daily if there are no extra sheets or blankets. The AC didn’t work properly because of a dirty filter. There were also stains on the walls, several holes, and broken handles around the room. This was unacceptable and nowhere near what the reviews had led us to expect.

I come back every week, and it gets better each time. Check-in is quick, and after working all day I really like the beds and the shower. I highly recommend this place.

The rooms are okay, and the price makes it clear there are all sorts of activities happening here. If you’re not comfortable with that, you might want to reconsider. Highway construction shuts the access road at night, so you can’t get in or out after 10. Pets aren’t allowed without a steep deposit either. If you can afford it, it’s better to stay somewhere off this stretch of I-35.
