Winnquest Inn Near Ft. Sam Houston

The remodeling is definitely making the rooms nicer. Andy was helpful and punctual with the service he gave me. Great place.

The owners are lovely people who really care about their customers.

I’ve stayed twice, and both times the room was much larger than average, very clean, and smelled fresh without being masked by deodorizer. It didn’t have the old, stale smell I’ve found at many cheaper hotels. The walls, drapes, carpet, bed, and bathroom were excellent. The two-part bathroom had a beautiful large square-tile floor, and the shower and tub had nice walls and a curtain. The only downside is there’s no coffee or breakfast. HEB, other shops, and a washeteria are within a quarter-mile walk.

The rooms are spacious and bright, and with so few rooms around, it feels like people know each other and the place is close-knit. But pets aren’t allowed, which is a deal breaker for me. They should consider exceptions for service dogs or guests willing to pay a pet deposit based on the dog’s size.
