Comfort Inn Gaslamp Convention Center

Restaurants and local shops are easy to reach on foot, and the hotel is in a great spot. It’s an older place, but quiet and well maintained. The main downside was parking at $50 a night through the hotel. There’s a lot three blocks away for $35 a night, or you can try street meters, though spaces aren’t guaranteed. There’s also a significant homeless presence nearby, with a Salvation Army facility that draws encampments. Our room had a slow-draining sink, and neither the ceiling fan nor its light worked. The best part of the stay was the front desk associate with long, dark curly hair working on 12/30/25. She was incredibly sweet and helpful, and gave outstanding customer service. We’re regular Choice Rewards members and have stayed at many properties. Staff who are genuinely friendly like her are hard to find these days. She made our stay so much better. Thanks for caring about guests!

The room was comfortable, with great beds and cold a.c. There was a dead cockroach on the floor, hair in the bathroom, and the TV kept disconnecting from the internet. Even with those issues, it was a pleasant stay for the price, and we’d be fine staying again if we came back to the area. Celeste and another gentleman whose name we didn’t get were incredibly kind and accommodating. We had several unusual requests, and they handled them all with a smile. We’ve traveled quite a bit, and this was some of the best service we’ve had.

The rooms were clean and simple, and the staff were really friendly. Check-in and checkout were easy. On checkout day they even held our bags while we went to the zoo before our afternoon flight.

It’s a nice, clean room in a great location, about a 10 minute walk from the convention center. A little small, but enough for one person. The sink is outside the bathroom beside the bed, which may bother some people. Breakfast is included, a big plus. Staff helped sort out a reservation issue when I checked in and stored my luggage for the day after checkout.
