Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, San Diego North, CA

I’ve had some experience through family and friends who own multiple hotels and properties, and this place is a model for how a hotel should be run. The staff were friendly, service came with a smile, and both the breakfast and property were great. I’d tell any GM from Wyndham, Choice Hotels, IGH, or elsewhere to learn from GM John and his team, Jacob, Jeremy, and Cheyenne (apologies if I’ve misspelled it). Don’t hesitate to book a stay here anytime!

The hotel is well placed for getting around. It’s not right among San Diego’s attractions, but driving there was quick and easy, and we saved a significant amount over staying closer to downtown during our six nights. Prices felt reasonable, and parking was just $10 a night. There are three elevators, so we barely had to wait. In the afternoon, they put out Otis Spunkmeyer cookies with coffee and tea, a nice touch. Breakfast was one of the best I’ve had at a U.S. hotel. The hot choices changed each day, and they offered almond milk for vegans and people who are lactose intolerant. Service was outstanding, easily the best I’ve experienced at a U.S. chain hotel. We held a family reunion dinner there, and they kindly supplied plates and silverware. The staff’s great attitudes really stood out. Our bedroom was very clean and had no unpleasant smell. The bathroom counter was roomy, handy for toiletries and makeup. We didn’t hear loud noise from nearby rooms, and the air conditioning was quiet and comfortable. One small drawback: the shampoo and conditioner might leave your hair flat, so you may want your own products. The bathroom faucet looks a bit dated, but works perfectly fine.

Jeremy was fantastic and made my stay better. He was kind, patient, and welcoming from check-in, then went out of his way to arrange a smooth extension of my checkout. I really appreciated how helpful and professional he was.

Mike was the highlight of the stay. He knew his stuff and was helpful throughout, and seemed genuinely glad to be there and to assist guests. His professionalism and attitude could make you overlook any minor issues with the property. The room itself was clean, spacious, and well organized, and the facility was impressive.
