Restaurants, bars, and public transit are all within walking distance, and the hotel itself was clean with very friendly staff. The main issue was the nightclub across the street. Its bass came through into the rooms, with the partying starting around 10pm and lasting until 1-2am. There are also many homeless people nearby. Some were sleeping, while others wandered around and could be aggressive.

I might stay here again, though the $65 daily parking charge is steep. We found plenty of free street parking over the Christmas holiday, so I only paid for one night out of our four. The hotel is in the middle of San Diego nightlife, with restaurants, bars, nightclubs, Petco Park, and the convention center all walkable. Our room had a full kitchen and a pull-out sofa bed. The bathroom sink was outside the bathroom, and its sliding barn door didn’t give much privacy; the lock also didn’t work well. The gym was a tiny space with four cardio machines and one weight rack, but the view was great. Service was prompt when we needed it.

The location was the one decent thing. All night, I could hear toilets flushing from the room above, like having upstairs neighbors with even worse soundproofing than an apartment. I’d never come back. Check-out is at 11, but they locked my keycard at 10am, so even stepping out for coffee meant I had to get a new one. Housekeeping also tried to enter at 10, before I’d checked out. The room clock was five minutes fast, too. The whole experience made it feel like they didn’t want me there.

The beds were comfortable and the service was great. There were cricket-like noises in the bathroom walls, though, and the shower pressure was so strong it sprayed over the shower wall onto the adjacent bathroom wall. Be careful.
