E-Z 8 Motel South Bay

For the price, it was a fairly good stay. The room and motel were about what I expected, and at least everything was clean. The shower kept changing temperature and the pipes made noise inside the walls. I really would have appreciated an option for late checkout.

When we turned on the lights after getting back from the beach, roaches were all over the room, mostly disappearing into the TV and behind the picture frames. My family and I had checked in, left our things, and returned about two hours later as it was getting dark. I managed to kill three and took photos before we gathered our stuff to leave. I thought getting a refund would be straightforward, but the front desk argued that I should have reported it as soon as I entered the room. The roaches hadn’t come out then. We’d only been there three hours and still had to pay for the whole day. Easily the worst motel experience I’ve had. I’d give this hotel zero if I could. This place is serious trash.

The freeway noise was very loud the whole time since the window faced the highway. The place had the basic amenities and was accessible, and the AC worked well. In the morning the shower pressure was poor; it improved about an hour later, but the water never got warm or hot. The sheets were clean, though they’d been made up over another set and the fitted sheet wasn’t tucked in. Maybe it was left by the previous guest. I didn’t experience crime, illness, or pests. I’d come back if I had to, but only at the right price.

The ants were awful, all over my things, every bit of my car, the dashboard, sink, and bathroom floor. They knew they had an ant problem and didn’t warn guests. If I’d known, I never would’ve stayed, and they still wouldn’t refund me. The neighborhood felt bad too. Water kept shifting from very hot to only sort of warm. Service was terrible, and there’s no elevator. The walkways and carpet were dirty. Save your money for somewhere that takes pride in its property. I’m disgusted with this place and the people there. I can’t say enough about how terrible the ants were.
