The walls are thin enough that you can hear people’s TVs while walking along the floor. Even so, if you bring a dog that gets anxious and barks, be aware that they may charge $300 for each noise complaint. The hotel accepts dogs, but I didn’t see any notice or fine print clearly explaining this fee, and they won’t tell you about it at checkout. You could be charged without any warning while staying here with a dog. It feels like the charge is meant to make sure you don’t come back.

The valet was quick and easy, and everyone on staff was great. I spoke with Rene at the front desk a few times, and he was always kind and helpful. I’d recommend staying here.

Aside from one odd experience at the front desk, I had a great stay. I went to buy four things at the convenience store near the desk and paid in cash. The two young women seemed put out by that, took over five minutes to price everything, and had to switch computers. They kept reminding me I could charge it to my room and checked more than once that I didn’t want change back.

The loft room I had this time was roomy and nicely decorated. I also enjoyed the breakfast downstairs, with tasty, healthy options, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s in a great spot between the Gaslamp district and the convention center, with the waterfront just beyond.

You’re basically paying for the location and views here, and I’d avoid staying. Parking costs 70$ and there isn’t parking. Rooms don’t have a microwave or kettle, and there’s no dental kit. You could pay 5x less at a super 8 and still get all of that.
