The room itself wasn't terrible, but there's a food smell throughout the place. It's in a pretty sketchy area too, with a lot of homeless people lurking around. The low price makes sense. I might stay again for the price, but I definitely wouldn't want my wife here without me, and if I had kids, I wouldn't bring them either.

The renovated rooms are decent for a mid-range 3-star hotel and feel like good value for the price. Mine had a great shower, a good desk chair, a microwave, and a fridge. The room was one side of this place's Jekyll-and-Hyde feel. Outside, it looks like an aging Days Inn, which it was, with peeling paint, drab colors, and a neglected, indifferent appearance. It felt kind of sketchy, like it might be frequented by ladies of the night and so on. The developers seem to have aimed for a boutique hotel and then run out of money. The “lobby,” though staffed by a friendly, helpful fellow, gives a check-your-guns-at-the-door impression. I'd stay again for one night if I just needed a decent room to sleep in, but I wouldn't bring a partner or family.

The front desk lady was great and told us the laundry room was closed for renovation. The room seemed nice at first, but then we spotted a pile of trash and dirt beside the bed, a patio door lying on the ground, and dust all over the remotes. The shower had no door, so steam spread through the room, and the floor wasn't clean enough for us to walk on in socks. It wasn't too bad overall, but not my preference.

The room was nice and the location was great, but Mark's customer service is not something I want to experience again. At check-in, Alex was amazing, hospitable, and helpful. I asked about late checkout, and he said it was available for a fee, which I paid. At 11:30 am, the extremely loud room phone woke us, and Mark said we were 30 minutes past checkout. I explained I'd paid for late checkout; he said he'd check and call if he needed anything else. Around 12:45 he called again, claimed we hadn't paid, and said I had to leave because someone else was lined up for the room. I have the statement and charge. He even gave the wrong room number on a different floor. Ten minutes later, he called back to say he'd found the payment and apologize for the confusion. I told him I was upset about the calls before checkout, and he replied, “well it’s 12:55 and you’re supposed to be out at 1,” as if I were at fault or there'd been a problem. I checked out at the front desk before 1 pm.

I'm not usually one to leave reviews, but Mark at the front desk deserves a mention. My fiance and I were hours from a concert we'd waited a year for when a problem came up with my reservation on the third party booking site. Mark was incredibly friendly and helpful, and went above and beyond to sort it out, turning a stressful situation into a good one. The hotel is under construction, but it's still clean and easy to get around. Our room was wonderful. Thank you so much!
