Getting checked in was simple, and the people staying there were considerate. The pods felt roomy, and the bathrooms were clean when I used them. I couldn’t find a hair dryer, though, and the lack of privacy curtains is frustrating, especially if you’re in a lower bed where people may keep walking past. Little Italy is a nice location.

Everyone else staying there was nice, but the manager made the place uncomfortable. I spent one night there and used the washer and dryer. I started one backpack-sized load, then the manager told me it cost $7, even though there was no sign saying so. I paid without a problem. While my clothes were drying, he came over four times to complain that they were taking too long and suggest I was washing more than one load, even though nobody else was using the machines. He eventually called me to the front desk and lectured me about it for around five minutes. I had paid to wash my clothes, and the whole thing felt like a power trip. He seemed to wander around looking for reasons to chastise people. Update: I was told I’m no longer welcome because I left a negative review about the manager. That only reinforced what I’d said about his attitude. Instead of learning from feedback, he took the review personally and got upset. Reviews give a business a chance to improve; they shouldn’t be taken as a personal insult when someone comments on bad service.

The staff were so friendly, and it was a nice, quiet place to stay. Being in Little Italy meant several good spots for Italian food were close by. The 7 Eleven near the County Center Trolley station was another plus. I’ll definitely come back.

The vibe with everyone was excellent, and the bed was really comfortable. My partner and I stayed here for one night while passing through San Diego. A lovely little place.
