Ramada by Wyndham San Diego Airport

Parking was good, and the price was very affordable, but I wouldn’t choose this hotel again. The room quality disappointed me, and seeing a cockroach made me feel it hadn’t been cleaned properly. Breakfast was very basic and needs improvement.

The room smelled of urine, and the bathroom badly needed remodeling, with old, dirty paint and a rusted safe deposit box inside it. The corridor was dated and had broken tiles. You have to walk outside to reach the room, and there was no way to access it by walking through the property. Outside on Rosecrans, homeless people were passed out on both sides of the street. The property’s condition disappointed me overall. The pool isn’t heated, and old carpets were left around an outside storage unit. I wouldn’t stay again.

We only needed a place for one night between checking out of our Airbnb and catching our flight. Our balcony room had a water view, and I liked sitting outside to watch the boats and cruise ship come and go from port. The accommodations weren’t as good as the Airbnb we’d stayed at all week, but they worked for our needs. Breakfast was sparse: cereal, danishes and juice, with waffles, bagged oatmeal or toast as the only hot choices. There were no eggs or meat.

I’m sharing this because young women were checking in as we left, and I want other travelers, especially women on their own or in small groups, to know what happened to us. My friend and I, two women traveling alone, stayed at the Ramada by Wyndham San Diego Airport in February 2026. We left early after an incident made us feel unsafe and disrupted our plans. Around 2:00 AM, our room phone rang. A man said “hello” and hung up. Soon after, we heard male voices very close to our room for a long time. They seemed to be coming from the neighboring room, which we thought was unoccupied. We called the front desk right away. The night staff said the call came from another guest room and was probably a mistake. That seemed odd, and we were so distressed that we couldn’t sleep until daylight. The next afternoon, a different staff member told us the call had actually come from the front desk and should not have happened. Getting two different explanations made us more concerned. Since we no longer felt safe there, we checked out early. We’ve filed a formal complaint with hotel management and requested an investigation and refund. Guest safety, clear communication and accountability are basic expectations at a hotel, but that wasn’t our experience.
