Residence Inn by Marriott San Diego Sorrento Mesa/Sorrento Valley

The pool and jacuzzi were warm, clean, and easy to get to, and the location made it simple to visit lots of beaches, Sea World, and Legoland. My daughter also loved the fireplace, couch, and kitchen in our room. Everything was great for my daughter and me. The front desk was quick, friendly, and efficient. When I accidentally left my suitcase outside the door because my hands were full, a bellman came up within minutes to let me know. The complimentary breakfast was awesome, and Carol and Lourdes went out of their way to be kind to us.

We spent four nights at Residence Inn by Marriott San Diego Sorrento Mesa/Sorrento Valley while my wife attended a nearby work workshop. I worked remotely in the room most of each day, so the problems stood out. The high rates, which seem tied to the corporate location, weren't justified by the quality. Photos from the stay show what I mean, and there's better comfort and value elsewhere for this price. The location may be convenient, but management needs to attend to upkeep, housekeeping, and guest value. After this experience, I'd hesitate to return unless things improve. Several chairs were in poor shape: the room chair covers were coming off, and the breakfast area chairs looked just as worn. The saucepan provided had its inner lining peeling, which is a known health concern when cooking. Housekeeping also fell short. During all four nights, the bedsheets weren't changed and there was no regular room cleaning. Whatever a guest's preferences, basic cleaning should happen at least every other day.

On our second visit to the Residence Inn Sorrento Valley, things went really well. One night the bathroom door wouldn't open, but the manager, Marvis, came over right away and fixed it. The front desk, cleaning crew, and breakfast team were all warm and professional, and the service went beyond what we expected. The room stayed spotless, comfortable, and well maintained, thanks to the thorough cleaning staff. Front desk staff were friendly, helpful, and professional from check-in to checkout, always greeting people with a smile and responding quickly. Breakfast staff were especially warm and attentive each morning, keeping everything stocked, clean, and welcoming. Their good attitude got the day off to a nice start. This hotel is a great example of hospitality. I highly recommend the Residence Inn Sorrento Mesa/Sorrento Valley and hope to stay again.

Families may like the outdoor setup, with a main pool and a smaller pool just for children. Breakfast is included too, and it's decent with a good range of choices. The rooms are quite old and show their age, and there aren't king beds available, which may matter if you prefer the extra space. Still, I had a pleasant stay at the Residence Inn Sorrento Mesa, and it's a solid family trip option if the dated rooms don't bother you.
