The Atwood Hotel San Diego - SeaWorld/Zoo

When I arrived, they told me the room I’d booked wasn’t available and canceled the booking on the spot. I had to reserve another room immediately, at almost twice the price, and the staff offered no clear explanation. During the three nights there was no housekeeping. The room and bathroom weren’t cleaned, and there were no towels or body wash. Pathetic service.

The pool and hot tub were looked after well, parking was free, and the security deposit was low. Our bed was comfortable, the room matched the photos, and the front desk staff were great. Housekeeping came every other day. Best stay we’ve had here, 10/10. We’ll be back.

The location was great, dogs are allowed, and the staff were kind and accommodating. I especially appreciated that the lobby staff got maintenance onto a leaking pipe right away, and it was fixed in under an hour. I still felt uneasy about the mold we found in the bathroom, so I called the lobby and they moved us to a different room. It was fine, though the cleaning may have been a bit rushed. A convenience store in the middle of the parking lot was nice to have. At check-in the staff were very nice, and our first room looked and smelled clean and felt spacious. The mold showed up the next day. It made sense since there was no exhaust fan, just a window for ventilation. I would have preferred the room to be ready when we booked ahead.

For $82 a night, we had a spacious room with two comfortable beds and a pool. They even lent us a portable bassinet for our baby. The room also had a refrigerator, a flat iron, hair dryer, air conditioning, a code box for locking up valuables, two chairs, a table, and a lampshade. There was a phone, though I’m not sure it works, and a TV we didn’t use. My only real downside was hearing cars go by. I recommend it for a one-night stay at The Atwood Hotel.
