Hotel Iris - San Diego

If you just need the cheapest place to crash, it’ll do. I knew my stay was cheap, but I can’t justify rating it above 2/5. The room felt janky and needed a lot of TLC: lifting floorboards, a baseboard detached from the floor, broken light fixtures, peeling veneer and leather, stains, and a shower faucet that didn’t fully work. The photos of the rooms are much more flattering than reality. If it costs >100 or you’re looking for somewhere comfortable, I’d pass. Hope this helps!

The hotel’s condition was below what I’d consider acceptable. Cleanliness was a serious concern, and the place felt uncomfortable and poorly maintained. I didn’t feel that guests were valued or looked after. My stay at Hotel Iris in San Diego was frustrating from the start. I was somehow double-booked, and the front desk employee, Leo, wouldn’t take responsibility, repeatedly blaming the third-party booking service. The third party said the problem was on the hotel’s side, leaving me caught between them without support. Leo remained dismissive and unhelpful, and I ended up involving my bank to try to get my money back. This was one of the worst hotel stays I’ve had. I’d strongly suggest looking elsewhere if you want a clean, stress-free place in San Diego.

The gentleman in the lobby was excellent with customer service and patient with me about the deposit 😁. I was surprised when I got to the room, and really appreciate this one of a kind place. It’s absolutely beautiful and family friendly. BLOWN AWAY!!! 10+/10, you deserve to come experience it.

A stranger knocked on my door at 2 a.m., and I felt unsafe. The room was also unsanitary and not properly equipped: there was no blow dryer, the iron was broken and had melted residue on it, and the ironing board was badly stained. I found hair in the shower and what looked like blood on the door. The bed had no box spring, and there was visible biological residue on the headboard. I checked in expecting a clean, functional room, but this was unacceptable and a serious health and safety concern.
