Travelodge by Wyndham San Diego SeaWorld

I was angry enough to leave, but I had plans to visit sea world the next day. After finally getting into the room, I was in my boxers getting ready for a shower when the housekeeper opened the door and walked right in. I asked why she hadn’t knocked. She kept saying, "im house keeper." I told her she still needed to knock next time. She got upset and said she could enter because I had no sign on the door. I went to the front desk and asked for the manager, who apparently wouldn’t be there for several days. I asked the front desk lady to tell the housekeeper, who didn’t speak English well, not to do that again. She said she would. Then, when I opened the bathroom door, a chunk of wood fell from the frame. It had a little nail on it, as if someone had broken it and rigged it to look fine. That was after arriving tired from a long drive: I’d booked online and was told the rooms were ready, but the desk said none were ready and I’d have to wait three hours. This was the worst Travelodge I’ve ever been to. I’d never go back.

The room and property were a run-down shambles, and I checked out as soon as I could. My first desk clerk was rude, arrogant, and extremely unhelpful, the most incompetent person I’ve encountered in a customer service job. A second staff member and the assistant manager were more helpful, which was the only redeeming part of the experience. Otherwise, it would be zero stars. Don’t book here, you’ll regret it.

We came to town for SeaWorld and rented two rooms, but none of the frozen food we brought stayed frozen. The front desk didn’t apologize. We also needed wheelchair access, but they had no accessible room, so getting my daughter up to the second floor was a struggle. The AC wouldn’t stay on as it was supposed to, too. On the plus side, the hotel is close to SeaWorld and there are plenty of places to eat within walking distance. There were many homeless people hanging around the parking area, and I’m pretty sure the young woman three doors down was a worker of the night, judging by the traffic coming and going. There was no free breakfast. For a Patel-owned business, I was very disappointed and expected better. I’m not sure I’d recommend it.

The accessible room gave us more space, and the bed was soft and comfortable. The room itself was okay. In the bathroom, the curtain hung too high above the floor, so water got everywhere, and the floor felt greasy and sticky. The hairdryer was gross, with hair and dust stuck to it. See pictures.
