West Park Inn

For what I paid, the service was great and the stay beat my expectations. It was $65 over Memorial Day weekend, which is a good deal. The reviews here seem a bit unfair. It looks like this hotel partners with the Quality Inn next door. The Quality Inn staff were courteous, and Darryl at the front desk was helpful and eager to assist.

The room was tiny, with bugs in the shower and on the bathroom floor, and the towels and sheets were dirty. The place wasn't very clean overall, and the stay wasn't pleasant. For that low a price, there aren't many options, but I guess you get what you pay for. The Quality Inn counter staff who checked me in were kind and professional. Getting to have the continental breakfast at the Quality Inn next door is what bumps this up from one star to two.

The staff were very friendly and worked hard, but the room had several problems. During our weeklong stay, WiFi only worked in the room when we were on the toilet. The washroom had no fan or window, so it stayed extremely humid for hours after a shower. They supplied one small bar of soap, split in half in the package, apparently one half for showering and the other for handwashing. Our room was also missing an ironing board when we arrived, though the hotel provided one later. There were no bugs in our room, but a coworker found a cockroach in his. Definitely a 2-star hotel.

The room was filthy, with blood on the wall and trash all over the carpets. I'd booked a king bed for the convention but got two tiny twin beds, smaller than any I'd ever seen. The room was so cramped that one bed blocked the bathroom door from opening all the way. They doubled their usual rate for the convention, too. They advertise being near the convention center but don't mention how unsafe the walk is. At 2PM, among other things, I saw a man pleasuring himself on the sidewalk. The staff were rude at check-in and laughed when I asked whether the room might be ready before 3PM. And the “breakfast” was just Costco muffins and juice. Horrible hotel.
