Holiday Inn San Jose - Silicon Valley by IHG

I hadn’t made the reservation myself, so I didn’t know what to expect, but the hotel was a pleasant surprise. Our group found the rooms a good size with comfortable beds. Most rooms did have trouble with hot water during our several-night stay. I liked being right off the freeway, which made getting around easy. The hibachi place across the street was really good, and we had fun at the sports bar next door. It looks nicer inside than it does from the street.

There was barely any hot water. If I was lucky, I got lukewarm water for 30 to 40 seconds at a time, then only a tiny bit every five minutes. I spent 45 minutes trying to shower and shave my legs in 10-minute stretches, then started crying and gave up. I couldn’t take a bath or a proper shower. I called the front desk, but they couldn’t fix it. The maintenance guy came with an attitude, said it was fixed, and left. It went cold again right away. They blame you and act like it’s your fault, and the maintenance guy was rude. The bathroom was disgusting. There was poop in the toilet, which barely flushed, and it took forever for pee to go down. There were other people’s hairs everywhere: more than 20 on the bathroom floor, plus hair all over the only two towels in a two-bedroom room. I left a Comfort Suites I’d booked a year ago because it had no water pressure, although it did have unlimited hot water. It was only $500 for four days, but I spent more to come here. I’m not going to spend another $100 on an Uber back to the room I already had, so I guess I’ll go back tomorrow on the train without showering. This hotel is a hundred times worse than a Motel 6. It looks nice outside, but the inside is disgusting. The only good thing was the appearance from the outside. I feel bad for employees who have to deal with this place. I don’t know who owns it, but they’re clearly negligent and should be sued in a class action. Please pay the extra $20 a night to stay somewhere else. You’ll regret choosing this place.

Gio at the front desk was charming, and Yve, the manager, was lovely too. The rooms were quiet and clean, and room service promptly brought us towels. Recommended.

The breakfast was amazing, lunch was good, and the pub was great. I also liked the gym and the outside patio. On the downside, some rooms are a little dirty, lots of them don’t have hot water, and the doors slam shut really loudly.
