Cavalier Oceanfront Resort

Roxy at the front desk made us feel like family as soon as we arrived, and had great tips on what to see and do. Darren (?) was also part of the front desk staff. The property is quiet, with plenty of parking, and the oceanfront benches are lovely for catching the last bit of sun. There are three fire pits by the ocean lit each night, with s'mores kits available, and a heated pool plus a clean hot tub at 104°. Our bathroom was clean, the hot water was good, and the fridge and well-stocked Keurig were nice extras. A fluffy robe was brought up right after check-in. Daily cleaning is available, though I just asked for extra towels and garbage removal, which they handled quickly. The beach is nice for a long walk, though it looked a little rough for swimming. The restaurant on site had yummy food, and Hearst Castle, the elephant seals, and Cambria are all about a five-minute drive away. It's a fantastic oceanfront hotel for the price. I'd love to go back, and would give it 10 stars if I could.

The rooms have a charming style, and though I saw comments that they were outdated, ours were in beautiful shape. The on-site restaurant was great too. Room, service, and property were all great. FANTASTIC!!! A must-see in San Simeon.

The location was perfect, easily the best part, but I won't return. I can't justify paying that much for one night when the place barely measures up to a Super 8, maybe a little better depending where it is. I don't think it deserves to be called a resort, maybe a hotel or something like that. A door had clearly been kicked in, and instead of replacing it, they repaired it. One staff member started out very aggressive in how he spoke, but Roxy sorted everything out. The newbie eased up and redeemed himself. Well done, Sir. Harsh, maybe, but that's how I felt.

The ocean views from the rooms are amazing, and the picnic area and nightly fire pits were great too. It's close to Cambria and the elephant seal viewing spots. The one downside was no EV charger on site. I had to walk five minutes to a Days Inn and charge the car overnight in the rain. I'd ask management to put one or two chargers in their lot.
