The main door to our Wolf Den suite wouldn't click shut all the way, which felt like a serious safety issue. There was also a strong bleach smell that lasted through our entire two-night stay. The kids enjoyed the water park, though the baby area was underwhelming and packed, nearly shoulder to shoulder from Wednesday to Friday. They also loved the events in the Main Lobby. Staff were very nice and helpful, and there are lots of restaurants nearby if you don't want to eat at the Lodge. We love Great Wolf Lodge, but this was our first time at the Sandusky location, which was a lot smaller than the Gurnee one we know. Check-in took about an hour because the clerk was training, which was totally fine.

We paid extra for the food package hoping it would save money and make meals easier, but because of the water main break we had to leave the resort several times for food and spend even more ourselves. The refill cups were nearly useless with the drink machines down, and nobody offered an alternative, even bottled drinks or a 2-liter for families. We also weren't clearly told about the water problem before using the room water for brushing teeth and making coffee. At Gitchigoomi, where we ate most meals, service was consistently poor. With the breakfast package, we waited a long time just to be acknowledged, and sometimes sat over 10 minutes before anyone brought water. On our last morning, the supposedly unlimited breakfast ran short. We waited almost half an hour for potatoes after asking, nobody came back to check on us, and we finally left hungry. Someone pounded on our door late at night on the last night and ran off. It only happened once, but added stress. Then half the water park was shut down yesterday after a fecal accident in the pool. These things happen, but together they made this a disappointing family vacation for the money. Overall, the stay was just okay.

My granddaughter loves everything there. This was our third year going, and the staff are all amazing. The lifeguards do a fantastic job too. We tried the restaurant for dinner for the first time this year: the cheeseburgers were the best ever, the tomato soup was amazing, and the pizza is always good. Thanks for helping us make more memories together.

Great Wolf Lodge worked well as a budget-friendly indoor water park, and my family had a great time. The employees were friendly and helpful. It's smaller than Kalahari, but costs less. To me, Great Wolf Lodge is like Walmart and Kalahari is like Target: Target is nicer and pricier, and each has a place depending on what you want and can spend. One night is enough.

The Quest activity gave the kids something to do outside the arcade and water park, which I liked. It might appeal to more ages if there were a leaderboard or points to compete for. In my opinion the paw passes aren't worth the money, and the experience seems best for kids under 10. My bigs called it Chuck E Cheese on steroids. The rooms were clean, the staff super friendly, and the location was great. First time visitors, and it was a good experience. Just be sure to follow the check-in procedures. Given our children's ages, I doubt we'll go again.
