Courtyard by Marriott Atlanta Perimeter Center

My mom and I came for an Emory appointment early the next morning, and after the second incident we were too tired to move rooms again. We’d both woken from a sound sleep with racing hearts, heavy limbs, and dizziness. Earlier, around 10:30, the same symptoms had started after weed smoke from another room came through our vents. It didn’t smell like the usual kind, and for a moment we were scared it might be something worse. We packed up, went downstairs, and were moved to another room. Everything seemed fine, and we went to sleep, until the smell and symptoms came back. The hotel offered to move us a second time, but it had happened twice already, and we worried it could happen again. I opened the balcony for fresh air and saw someone on a courtyard balcony, too far away to be what we were smelling, lighting up and watching what sounded like South Park. So much for a smoke-free property. A hotel should be a clean, comfortable place to rest away from home, and as a Marriott-affiliated property I expect the safe, relaxing, allergen-free experience I usually get with a Bonvoy hotel. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. The manager was amazing and very kind, and she did make it right, but I feel I need to tell other incoming patients.

The room was quiet and clean, and the staff were excellent. I’d made a mistake in my reservation, but Richmond sorted it out quickly, easily, and professionally. He was friendly, too. I’d return for that kind of service.

We didn’t feel fairly or respectfully treated during our stay, and this property fell short of Marriott’s hospitality, professionalism, and inclusivity standards. I can’t recommend it, especially to families or anyone expecting respectful treatment. Management needs to take a close look at staff conduct, guest service training, and the overall experience.

We ended up checking out early because the treatment and atmosphere left us uncomfortable. We didn’t feel welcome, respected, or valued. We were traveling with our eight-month-old and several bags, and asking for a luggage cart got a dismissive, unprofessional response. From the beginning, the front desk staff seemed rude, inattentive, and unwelcoming. The way we were spoken to repeatedly made us feel disrespected and gave us a strong impression of racial profiling. I don’t make that accusation lightly, but the tone and behavior were deeply troubling. The main entrance was also closed during business hours. When I tried to get in, a staff member responded rudely and dismissively, which showed a serious problem with customer service and staff training. The hotel charges $10 a day for parking while stating that it takes no responsibility for vehicles or belongings, as shown in the photo. Charging for parking while disclaiming liability feels unreasonable and misleading. This property falls short of Marriott’s standards for hospitality, professionalism, and inclusivity. Management urgently needs to review staff conduct, service training, and the guest experience. I wouldn’t recommend it, particularly for families or anyone who expects fair, respectful treatment.
