Sheraton by Marriott Atlanta Perimeter Dunwoody

Sophie made our arrival feel warm and welcoming. She was professional, attentive, and genuinely helpful, especially compared with staff at several other local properties where I'd stayed for work. After a full day of flying, I was glad to find the Sheraton Atlanta Perimeter North Hotel exceptionally clean and much larger than I expected. The beds were very soft and comfortable, and free parking was easy to access. We had an outstanding stay, and I'll book here again. I'd recommend it for business or leisure travel in the area.

The location was the one good thing about this hotel. The mattress was so firm I barely slept, there was no comforter, and even my old twin bed from college was better. The towels were rough, and the tissue felt like crepe paper. The AC was cold below 71, but setting it to 72 made a huge jump to full heat and left the room muggy. This was my first Sheraton, after hearing how great they were, and I regret paying upfront. I would've canceled and gone somewhere else. I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.

I told the front desk at check-in that I'm a light sleeper and asked for a room away from an elevator. Instead they put me in room 430, sharing a wall with the breakfast lounge. When I called right away to ask about changing rooms, they assured me it wouldn't be loud. It was. The walls shook whenever the lounge door closed, at midnight and again all morning during breakfast. I called at 6:30 am, but nobody answered. I had to go to work. When I returned that evening and asked to move, the desk said the hotel was sold out, even though I could see online that any room could be booked. When I challenged that, they said I should've asked in the morning. Why would that matter? The front desk lied instead of helping a guest. I've never seen that kind of behavior. I'll be in the area twice a month for the next few months, but I won't stay here again.

The lobby looked nice, but the rest of the property was a letdown. The elevator doors looked more like freight elevator doors, my room didn't feel especially clean, and there was visible wear throughout. A white line ran across the TV screen, and some gym equipment was broken or in disrepair. The gym TV didn't work at all. Shouldn't hotel staff be checking rooms and amenities to make sure they're working? Breakfast cost $15, and I don't mind paying, but the selection was like a budget hotel: dehydrated eggs, stale bread, and old sausage patties. It wasn't worth the money and felt like corner-cutting. The so-called Sheraton Club disappointed too. Its coffee machine was broken and the space wasn't well maintained. I remember when staying at a Sheraton meant excellent service, attention to detail, and a higher standard. That doesn't seem to be true anymore. I spent three nights here at the start of my trip, then checked into a Tru by Hilton in Louisiana on the fourth. The difference was night and day, with better service, better amenities, and a free breakfast that actually felt worth the price, LOL. It's a shame Sheraton has fallen so far behind. I didn't get the value I paid for, won't stay here again, and wouldn't recommend it.
