A few minutes from beaches and good restaurants, the location is fantastic. We had a clean room with a roomy bathroom, and the office area was really cute. We booked the smaller queen room, which came with a fridge and microwave. The staff were excellent, kind, and attentive when we needed anything. It did get noisy through the thin walls when we could hear other guests. The place seemed to attract a quieter crowd, but light sleepers might want earplugs.

Everything was so clean and neat, from the beautiful grounds to the hotel itself. We loved the pool, especially the deep end, and can’t wait to come back in April. It’s our new home away from home. The young woman who checked me in was helpful, walked me to my room, and showed me how to use the keypad. This hotel and its grounds are just gorgeous!

Our freshly renovated room was decorated impressively, and the staff were wonderful. They offered flexible check-in and check-out times. Kona Kai is quiet and private, with a great location less than an eight-minute drive from Lighthouse Beach. Billy's Rentals is right next door for bike rentals, and 7-11 is less than 500 feet away, so forgetting my toothbrush wasn’t a big deal. Definitely looking forward to another visit.

We’d happily stay at The Kona Kai Motel again if we make it back to Sanibel Island. Our night there was very quiet, with only two or three other rooms occupied in the low season. The rooms are spread between three buildings, so I think it would still feel comfortable when full. Getting in was effortless: they sent us an electronic lock code, like at a boutique motel. We didn’t use the pool, but it looked clean and inviting.

We came for a three-night getaway and would stay here again. The room was spacious and clean, with everything we needed in the kitchen area, and the property was clean too. The staff were friendly and helpful. It isn’t a motel with staff on site around the clock, but it’s close to restaurants, shopping, Jerry’s, and a 7-11.
