We had access to the resort amenities, but our unit was nearly two blocks from the main hotel, which made it feel separate, more like an Airbnb apartment. We’d paid for the highest-priced beach-view room expecting a full resort experience, so the stay didn’t match the cost. The price was comparable to a five-star hotel, yet the offerings felt basic: no breakfast included, housekeeping only every three days, and the pool by our building was under construction. On the phone we’d been told the property was fully renovated. When we asked the front desk about our room assignment and whether closer rooms in the renovated main area cost differently, the staff member walked away mid-conversation, which was disappointing. A fire alarm started beeping during the night and woke us. We later found out it was the batteries, and it didn’t seem to have been checked before we arrived. This isn’t a bad place, and guests closer to the main amenities may have a better experience. Still, for premium rooms, the services and amenities don’t seem to justify the price. Clearer communication, stronger quality checks, and pricing that fits what’s offered would make expectations more realistic.

We had three rooms, two with two bedrooms and one with three, and loved the place. It’s been remodeled and looks great. The buffet breakfast was $30 per person, so we skipped it, drove to lighthouse Cafe for breakfast, and had dinner at a nice Italian pizza place. We’d go back.

We spent the day at Sundial Beach Resort & Spa yesterday and were impressed by how beautiful, welcoming, and well-run it felt. Everything was spotless, the mood was relaxed but lively, and the staff went out of their way to make the day special. Amanda, one of the recreational beach attendants, deserves a special mention. She was upbeat, professional, and truly friendly, making it easy to feel like we were on vacation. She kept the beach activities moving smoothly, helped guests join in, and brought a fun, positive energy. It’s rare to meet staff who clearly enjoy their work and take pride in it. Amanda and the whole Sundial team gave us an incredible visit, and we can’t wait to come back.

We were told the restaurant was open to the public after calling ahead and speaking with the front desk, so we went to the pool restaurant. The staff made it clear they didn't want us there without wristbands. They reluctantly seated us, then listed all the things we couldn't do, including using the pool or going to the beach. While we ate, managers kept looking over and pointing at us, and I heard one say it was fine. It felt awful, like we were being treated as criminals. We spent about $180 on food that was really bad. The bread was hard, and they were out of hamburgers and fries, which left my four kids disappointed. Before leaving, we stopped by the beach and were told non-wristband guests had to leave because it was private. The resort shouldn't have said the restaurant was open to the public. We would never have gone otherwise. Very rude staff, a very bad visit, and we won't return. We vacation a lot and were looking for future places for my family of seven. 😔

The beachfront setting made for lovely views and a relaxing stay. Our room had plenty of space and was well equipped, and the staff were attentive and friendly. There was good food to choose from, plus the pool and water sports kept the family busy. We recently stayed at Sundial Beach Resort with the family and had a fantastic time. We can't wait to come back.
