Comfort Inn & Suites Orange County John Wayne Airport

The room was poorly sanitized. The towels and bedding had visible stains, and the whole place smelled musty, like an old house. We booked four nights and checked in together. On the second day my key card suddenly stopped working. The front desk wouldn’t reactivate it without my spouse’s ID, and they refused to call my spouse to verify, even though they had the number on file. I was left locked out of a room we’d already paid for. A very frustrating and disappointing stay.

I’ve stayed at the Comfort inn several times for work, and it’s been pleasant every time. The staff are welcoming, helpful, and accommodating, and the property is consistently clean and well maintained. My standard King room is spacious, with comfortable beds. I especially love the bathroom counter space, it’s literally the first thing I look for. The room also has a microwave, coffee, and mini fridge. Breakfast is a full spread with eggs, waffles, juice, pastries, and more. There’s plenty of free parking, and the location is great, just five minutes from John Wayne. The incidental hold is $100, subject to change. Definitely one of my favorite budget friendly places to stay when I’m in town.

I asked to extend my stay, and Candy at reception was rude and unprofessional. She quoted $210 a night, while her colleague offered me $115. She wouldn’t let me speak to the manager. When I said I wanted to make a complaint, she told me I could call the police. Not a recommended hotel.

I come from Scotland, UK, and stay here for two or three weeks every other year. I ask for a poolside room and they always accommodate me. It’s an easy location right off the 405, 55, 73, and other roads, with great food and shopping around Orange County. There are lots of thrift shops, beaches aren’t far, and Disney is close too. I always notice something that’s been changed or upgraded since my last visit. The pool is clean and salt water. The hot tub is cozy, and big enough for five or six people. Only half the jets were working on my most recent stay, but it was mostly quiet, so that didn’t bother me. It runs on a 30 minute timer, and you can use it from 9am to 10pm with your hotel room card for access to the pool and hot tub area. Parking is plentiful and easy. They offer a shuttle to and from John Wayne Airport, though I didn’t use it. You get a parking pass at reception when checking in. Breakfast is a treat, with plenty of options, and the staff are super nice. I’d personally recommend putting a dollar or two in their tip jar. The gym was almost always empty, so I had it to myself except for one day. One weight machine was broken and labeled as such. There are two treadmills, though the TV is a little loud. My room was quiet, the air con worked great, and the basic room had plenty of storage. There’s a fridge, microwave, and coffee machine, lots of lamps and power sockets, and the internet was perfect and fast. Ice machines are on every floor. It’s a really clean place, and I always enjoy staying here.
