Palihouse Santa Barbara

Our room at the Palihouse was spacious, clean, and ideal for our family of three, with room for even more if needed. Sylvia, the manager, welcomed us and showed us the accommodations and our room. Noelle was so friendly at the bar, and Melanie was a wonderful breakfast host each morning. We took our first family trip to Santa Barbara with our son this past week, and everything was perfect. The staff were incredibly accommodating. We'll definitely be back soon.

I love the intimate feel of this boutique hotel, and the staff are friendly, courteous, and gracious. I first discovered the Palihouse SB a few months ago when we stopped for drinks and sat in the courtyard by the water fountain. I loved the quaint space, its decor, and the fragrant candle scent as you walk up the steps from the street. Each room has a balcony, and there's a pool, a bar, and the best coffee ☕️.

That breakfast was phenomenal, and the patio was such a handy surprise for our dog. My boyfriend and I were blown away when we got to the room. This is easily one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. I’m already planning another trip this year. Nothing but good things to say ❤️

We were on a tight birthday schedule because my two friends had to catch a train back to LA that day, but check-in turned into a long wait. I got a text around 2 saying the room was ready and arrived at 3:30. The front desk employee said the key card machine wasn’t working, so we waited in the courtyard. After a while, I went back and asked if the keys were ready. He said no. It was 4:30, an hour and a half past check-in, and when I pointed that out he just said, “Yeah,” with no apology or explanation. I left the lobby because he seemed useless and had no sense of hospitality. When he finally gave me the key, there still wasn’t an apology. The boy and girl at the desk gave us death glares as we left. The bathroom had short hair in the tub, clothing tags had been cut off on the couch, and bandage wrappers were on the floor. For a place that isn’t cheap and claims to be four stars, there wasn’t even complimentary water in the room or a water station. They also charged me twice for the same stay and are refusing to refund the duplicate charge because of their no-refund policy. It felt like a soulless motel, possibly even a little racist, and it’s far from anything fun.
