Hotel Paradox, Autograph Collection

The check-in was smooth, and everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel has plenty to do, from ping pong by the pool to card games and other activities in the lobby. We especially enjoyed the heated pool in December and relaxing in the jacuzzi, so it works for families or couples. The room, though, wasn’t very clean and had a strange damp or mold-like smell around the bed and underneath it. The sink didn’t drain properly unless we opened the stopper by hand, and nobody came to clean the room the next day. It was a good stay in some ways, but the room cleanliness needs work.

Walking to downtown made it easy to get to nearby shops and restaurants, and the parts of the property I saw were well cared for. The room was small but pleasant, though the furniture showed a little wear and the TV had a thin red line across the screen. Those were minor annoyances, but the parking issue left a worse impression. I was told the $28 daily fee would be waived, then saw the charge on my card a few days later. I called, and the associate was helpful and refunded it. Between that and the room’s condition, I’m not eager to book here again.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the shower had great water pressure. Shaun (Shawn?) really went out of his way to make sure we were happy. He switched on the hot tub jets for us and lit the beautiful fire pit, and you can tell he cares about his work. Everyone we met was friendly and accommodating. We had a great stay and highly recommend the hotel.

I liked the lobby decor, the complimentary coffee and water there, and the handy walk into Downtown. The pool area looked popular and pleasant, though we didn’t use it. The rest felt basic: poor amenities, low-quality towels, and cups that weren’t replaced. Fixtures, especially in the bathroom, were worn and moldy, and the room smelled. The pillows were lumpy and left my neck really sore. We could hear neighbors flushing through the thin walls, and road noise came in all night through a small gap under the door. The room stayed cold even with the AC off. We were there for two nights.
