El Sendero Inn, an Ascend Collection Hotel

We spent three days here with friends during our Christmas holiday visit to Santa Fe last month, and enjoyed the stay. The room was spacious, clean, and nicely decorated, with modern amenities including a refrigerator. Staff members were friendly and helpful, and there are quite a few places to eat nearby. On-site private parking was available for $10 a day. I’d gladly recommend this location.

We’ll come back. The hotel is close enough to the square to walk over, eat, and shop, and the staff were friendly. Rooms have plenty of space. There’s no breakfast, but that was fine with the square so nearby. One small request: please put a bigger mat in the shower. Those of us who are older aren’t as nimble as we’d like.

We picked this hotel for its location during the holidays. The town square was an easy walk, with plenty of restaurants and shopping. That was the main thing in its favor, and I’m not sure I’d stay again. The property feels very worn inside and out and badly needs a remodel. The lobby was old and dated, with few guest amenities like a place to lounge or snacks. The young woman at check-in seemed eager to get back to her phone. In December, the outdoor pool was filthy and had chipped paint. Our room was worn too, including the carpet, bedspreads, and towels. Cleanliness was a 5 out of 10.

We arrived late from Texas without doing any research and ended up finding a gem! The restaurant attached to the place was BOMB and won’t disappoint. The room was clean, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom was huge, with lots of mirror space for mothers who are always competing with older daughters for it. The location is great for walking to shops, and they came in to clean while we were out. They did a great job. I’d give it more stars if I could.
