Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Santa Fe

There was no hot water in any of our eight rooms during our three-day stay in December. Many rooms also had a strong smell of weed, even though the property was advertised as smoke-free. We received no housekeeping at all. When we asked about it, the front desk claimed we had declined service, which wasn’t true. Management repeatedly avoided dealing with our concerns. After we said we might escalate the matter to Marriott Corporate, staff told us, “Do whatever you want. Corporate won’t help you.” We followed up with Marriott Corporate several times, and months later there is still no resolution. We’ve stayed at many Marriott properties over the years, but this was our worst experience in the group and nowhere near Marriott’s quality standards. I can’t recommend this hotel.

The room itself was clean and comfortable, but the unreliable internet and neglected stairs left me unlikely to stay again. I spent a night here several days ago in the last room on the top floor, across from the back stairs. I had requested that room location, and it’s noted on my profile. We were told to use the back stairs to reach the room. They were the filthiest, most worn hotel exit stairs I’ve ever seen, despite having stayed in hundreds of Marriott properties around the world. Franchisee, please repair and clean them up. The internet was terrible too, with the signal repeatedly dropping and making the stay very frustrating.

The property is being renovated, as other reviews have mentioned. I was given a different room from the one I booked, and the back door was firmly locked in the morning, which was both an inconvenience at checkout and a fire hazard. For what you get, it’s absolutely overpriced. I won’t come back.

The tamale at breakfast was the one decent part of this Fairfield stay. The location was terrible, the internet didn’t work, the business center was down, and the pool was cold. There were smells and random people walking around. This location doesn’t meet Marriott’s standards. Still, that tamale was decent.
