Inn of the Governors

The location made it easy to walk everywhere, and the pool area was lovely with roses in bloom. We also enjoyed the complimentary made-to-order breakfast, a nice change from the usual buffet, along with tea, sherry, and the state cookie in the afternoon. Our room had a kiva fireplace, and the robes were a welcome extra. Booking directly included a $15 nightly food and beverage credit. From check-in through checkout, the service was excellent. I'd stay here again a million times.

Free parking and breakfast make this a good value, and the breakfast is genuinely hot and good, not random slop. The location is very walkable and close to the center of Santa Fe. The rooms are comfortable, with a desk and mini fridge. They only clean rooms when you request it, which I like because I can hang out without being disturbed. A couple of useful things I didn't see listed on the website: an ice machine in the lobby and laundry somewhere on the property. I saw signs for the laundry but didn't use it.

Remember to pick up the complimentary welcome treat at check-in, sherry and biscochitos from 4pm-5pm. There's also a delicious free breakfast for hotel guests. The pool area is cozy, and though it's not a big pool, I found the size just right. Our rooms were charming, with Southwestern touches, and housekeeping did an excellent job keeping them clean. They were stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, and shoe polish. The hotel is centrally located for places downtown, including the Lensic Theater and the Palace of the Govenors. On-site parking includes an underground area, but if you're in a big truck, park up by the entrance since larger vehicles won't clear the underground garage. We had a wonderful stay and would love to come back. Thanks to Ken at the front desk for his humor and recommendations, and to the staff at the hotel and on-site restaurant, Del Charro. The included breakfast was cooked to order and tasty, and our deluxe room was clean, comfortable, and had nice amenities and a cozy fireplace. Everyone in the dining room, at reception, and in housekeeping was friendly and accommodating. The hotel is conveniently close to the historic downtown plaza, and we plan to return. Becky at the front desk made the booking process pleasant from the start, answering all my questions by phone and email and giving us great recommendations for the stay. It was lovely to meet and chat with her after we arrived. Thanks for the memories.
