Las Palomas

We stayed in a one-level studio with our dog, and it was just right for the two of us. The layout was cute and simple, exactly what we needed. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and it was clear they cared about making our stay good. We could walk to the plaza, museums, restaurants, and shops in about 7-10 minutes. It was handy being able to go downtown and back a few times a day to regroup, change clothes, or relax. Breakfast is included and excellent value, with five options done well: breakfast burrito or tacos, pancakes, eggs and bacon, or a healthy egg white scramble. Fantastic stay at Las Palomas. 10 out of 10 would recommend. People who gave one- and two-star reviews are either snobs, have unrealistic standards for a busy historic building offered at a great price, or didn’t ask the friendly staff for help with their issue.

We booked this online at a reasonable price for an overnight trip from Albuquerque and were pleasantly surprised. Eddie, the front desk manager, made us feel very welcome. After our concert, we could stop at the Night Owl Cafe, open late for coffee and desserts. They upgraded us to a lovely multi-room casita with a wood-burning fireplace, a mini kitchen, a dining table that was great for games, and a comfortable bed with luxurious sheets, which I need. The grounds are charming, with little alleys leading to the Casitas. Breakfast was great, including homemade blue corn pancakes, burritos, and tacos with excellent red and green chile, plus homemade pastries. There’s a small artisan market in the lobby with live weaving. The place is right next to Vanessie's, within walking distance of the plaza, and parking behind the lobby is secure. I highly recommend it!

We had a lovely getaway to Santa Fe from Albuquerque, and they warmly welcomed both us and our dog. We got a ground-level unit with a small courtyard, which was really convenient. Parking was free, and the hotel sits a few blocks from the plaza, just off the main drive, so it has some privacy while still being in a great spot. The owner and staff were fantastic, sweet and enthusiastic, and made it feel like they were welcoming us into their home without leaving out any details. It’s the kind of “non-corporation” I’m happy to support. Their hot chocolate and pie are amazing too. We hope to come back soon.

Our two-room suite was clean and well furnished, with strong water pressure and hot water in the shower. Staff were always around and quick to help when we asked. Breakfast was delightful and made to order. I had the healthy choice, my spouse got breakfast tacos, and we both liked the orange juice and lattes. The hotel is made up of adobe-style units and puts you in a handy location, about a 10-minute walk from the plaza. We had dinner at The Shed and were lucky to find seats at the bar, where you can order a full meal. Santa Fe is a delightful town to visit.
