We were happy with the location, the comfortable room, and how responsive management was. I'd stay again, but I'd ask them to explain the amenities charge first. The bill was my main concern. Several days before arrival, I saw a charge on my credit card and was told it was a hold for amenities that would drop off. I wasn't too worried when the final bill included a $35/day amenities charge, but at the end of the month I asked what those amenities were and got no answer. We used the shower gel, made coffee in the room each morning, and got filtered water from the amenities room. The odd thing was that the charge was essentially the Winter discount. I'm sure it was a communication issue, not intentional. Still, I'd rather pay a price that doesn't seem to change. I don't remember an amenities fee being mentioned during booking. At other hotels over the years, if we didn't use bottled water, room snacks, or anything from the mini fridge, the amenities fee was refunded. The first charge I'd asked about did drop off, but the final one stayed on the bill. Room 7 was very nice and close to everything, and checking in and out was convenient. The glassed-in bathroom was a little strange, but not a deal breaker. We had trouble sleeping because the bed only had a heavy down comforter, so we'd wake up hot, then cold. I didn't ask management for a lighter blanket, so that part's on me. Thanks.
This is a beautiful boutique hotel right in downtown, and it's clean. The staff were friendly and very cooperative. Checkout was at 11, but they kindly moved it to 2pm without a fee when I asked. Just understand that it's a boutique hotel, not a full-fledged hotel.
We adored our stay in #6, a king room with a suite, and we're so glad we booked this truly boutique hotel. The spacious rooms were exceptionally clean, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed. The pillows were among the best I've ever slept on. The unit included free parking, and the Plaza was only a two-minute walk away. It's connected to a coffee shop, a sushi restaurant, and another one whose name I can't remember. The room connects to a gorgeous gallery, and even with invisible service, the team at Palace Modern thought of everything. Love, love, love this place. I'll keep recommending it to visitors looking for somewhere to stay in Santa Fe.
The room could use more natural light, and that glass bathroom leaves you with basically no privacy. There isn’t much space to hang out outside the room either. The outside door doesn’t lead to somewhere you can sit, and there’s no pool or other amenity to spend time at. Still, the place itself is bright and modern, the linens are nice, and the location in old Santa Fe makes it easy to walk everywhere. Free parking is included. If they added a shared outdoor spot, some indoor seating, and sorted out the bathroom, I’d give it five stars without hesitation.
The staff were the one bright spot. They were lovely and tried hard to help, but the problems with the property were beyond their control. We got trapped in our room when the digital lock failed. Luckily it was daytime and a team member was there; they opened an empty adjoining room so we could get out. The lock still wasn’t fixed, and without that connecting room we might have been stuck for who knows how long. At night, with nobody on site, it could’ve been worse. The showers also send water all over the floor because the partition is too short, so we used a pile of towels after each shower to keep anyone from slipping. The fridge hummed loudly enough to disturb sleep, so we unplugged it once we found the source. I liked the modern look in a town full of adobe, but the design and management had too many flaws. I won’t stay again. The self-service setup feels like a way to cut costs.
