I've had better-than-average stays in Santa Fe hotels, so I don't understand why their reviews are so rough. This place has somewhat better ratings than most, but still deserves more credit. The rooms are lovely, laid out well, and the property is solid and well kept, with little touches that locals or people with family in NM will recognize. The beautiful window art and the luminaria got me a little emotional. I use crutches and have mobility issues, so I understand the concern about stairs. I called ahead because I was arriving late and wanted to know what to expect, and whether I should choose another hotel. I really wanted a kitchenette to refreeze my ice packs. The woman on the phone explained things, and when I arrived she went out of her way to find me a room that would work. Lots of people offered help, more times than I can remember. If you have mobility needs, call first and try to arrive closer to check-in time, when more room options are available. They're kind here. I didn't encounter a single rude person, so I don't know what others are talking about.

The staff were terrific, especially manager Tohnia MIller. She and her team showed the kind of Marriott quality I've come to expect over 30 years. They did their best to make the stay good, and I appreciate it. I stayed 16 days in May, 2026, and the start was rough. I was told no upgrades were available, which has become standard Marriott practice and feels close to a fraudulent bait-and-switch. As often happens, that turned out not to be true. My first room had several problems, including a microwave that didn't work. The team responded right away and moved me to an upgraded room, which I qualified for with my status. That room was better, but old and badly in need of a makeover. The carpet was worn and smelled old and dreary, and all the furniture was uncomfortable, worn, and tired-looking. My window faced a parking lot with a huge, filthy trash bin. I was told renovation work was underway and the bin would stay there during my visit. Breakfast was terrible. I tried it four times to see if it got better, but the hot food was cold to lukewarm every time. In my view that was a health risk, so I left my food uneaten. What a shame. With rooms in this condition, I can only give a mediocre rating. It felt like an old motel, not a comfortable Marriott. I hope the renovations improve the property, but they came too late for my stay.

The front desk employee was kind and professional, and the rooms were clean, though not updated. But the linens were subpar. Given the quality of the three towels in a suite for four people, I doubt the blankets were worth $900. The property was tidy, but not clean, with unemptied trash cans all over. It was quiet and well located. With new, ethical management, it might be worth returning; as things stand, stay somewhere trustworthy and spare yourself the trouble of cancelling your card. At checkout, the hotel charged our card more than $900, claiming we had taken the bed blankets. We had not. They said housekeeping had "triple checked" for the missing blankets, yet the charge posted before housekeeping had even come to the room. The General Manager, Tanya, never returned any of our calls despite several attempts. The front desk worker seemed to know the property often scams guests and quickly told us to report the charge as fraud to our card company. Multiple BBB reviews describe mischarges or double charges here. Buyer beware, there's a reason the business has an F rating from the Better Business Bureau.

The location was great, and the staff were fantastic, helpful, and sympathetic. Breakfast had lots of New Mexican options and the service was great. When we had to move rooms, the staff got us into one that worked and had already known the first room had issues. They even gave us tips for dealing with them. I can't blame the staff, who did their best. We stayed a week in early January, and this is one of the hardest reviews I've written. In the first room there was no hot water, the door wouldn't open, and rain or melting snow from the upstairs landing poured right in front of the entrance. We got soaked while trying to open the stuck door. This is one of the most neglected Marriott-branded hotels I've stayed in. Whoever owns the property is clearly neglecting it, and it needs serious attention. I'm surprised Marriott standards seem to be slipping. I thought the brand meant quality, especially in a city like Santa Fe. I rated it 1 because the room is what we're paying for. Great location and staff, neglected facilities. Question the management.

I travel a lot for work, and this is one of the best places I've stayed. The room was clean and nice, and I appreciated having a ceiling fan. Breakfast was excellent, with Greek yogurt, fresh fruit, oatmeal, eggs, some kind of Southwest New Mexican side dish, plus red and green chile. The coffee was great too, and the breakfast area was clean and tidy.
