I checked in at 7:00pm and felt at home right away. While I waited for the instructions, Sadie the bartender offered me a drink. She makes a great Cosmo and is so easy to talk to. We both love audible books, and she also pointed me toward Table for Two nearby. Wow, it’s great. I loved my Pecos room and all the other amenities. My one gripe was the sheets, which felt kind of like sandpaper.

The staff were really nice, and the complimentary breakfast was very good. The rooms were clean, but smelled strongly of fabuloso. In my friend's room, the little patio door had been smashed in and not properly fixed, and there was no way to double-lock it like a hotel door. The piano bar photos were very misleading. Nobody plays the piano there anymore; it’s just chairs and a really old piano. It was a bit disappointing, and the walk to the square, where the action is, was farther than we wanted. For the price, the stay wasn’t bad, but I don’t think we’d go back. It just wasn’t for me.

Vanessie has a lot of history for me. I’m local, and I used to come here for birthdays and family memories as a kid. I hadn’t been back for about 20 years, but a few weeks ago some friends and I stopped by on a Thursday. Now we’re going every week. We met Gabe behind the bar, and he’s a real mixologist. He came up with all sorts of drinks we’d never tried, and the night just kept getting more fun. We ended up dancing, and even got Gabe out there with us. It’s still laid-back, but you can feel the energy building again. Coming back has been special, and it’s fun making new memories here. Great place, great people, and Thursday nights are our tradition again.

We only stayed one night for my birthday, but it turned into a memorable stay. The room was a good size and clean, especially for the price. Breakfast was beautifully presented. Make time to stop at the bar and HAVE A TIME! Easy to get in and out.

The breakfast room and lobby are beautiful, and Cristobal made us a delicious breakfast. Our room was clean, bright, and comfortable, with a southwest feel. It’s an easy walk downtown, too. Jay, the manager, is a real asset to Vanessie. He’s resourceful and capable, and has excellent customer service skills. We’ll definitely stay again.
