The first time we rented a condo of our own after years of visiting Blue Mountain Villas in different units, since this year we brought our 15-month-old and our dog. We chose Condo 2A for the space and pet-friendly setup. We knew that often means older furnishings. The property manager sent information ahead, and check-in was easy. The condo had been cleaned, but not thoroughly: there was food stuck to the floor. Upstairs, the laminate in the hall had a large raised spot. The master bedroom floor sloped and bounced underfoot, especially by the sliding balcony door, where it felt like it could give way. From the main floor, the ceiling visibly bowed in the middle and had cracks. Some unevenness may be expected in an oceanfront condo, but we hadn't been told about any of it. A note saying it had been checked for safety and was being repaired would have helped. Instead it was a troubling surprise. There were safety and comfort issues throughout. The stairs had an oddly placed ledge that hurt to walk on barefoot unless you stepped sideways or wore shoes, not ideal for kids. Some outlets had no cover plates, and my son could have put a finger in them. Downstairs furnishings were sparse, with cords exposed and running to a power strip on the floor. The kitchen had few utensils and cooking supplies, though there was a Keurig. The showers smelled strongly of unrinsed bleach, enough to give me an instant headache, so we ran water and scrubbed them before using them. Bedroom doors were splintered and needed a hard push to shut, which wasn't good for a toddler trying to sleep. The top balcony had a water bottle full of cigarette butts that wasn't ours. With so little furniture out there, it seemed like the cleaning crew should have seen it. The balcony furniture itself was flimsy, broken, and not inviting for enjoying the view. The worst issue came at dinner on our first night. Our son was playing near the table when he cut his finger on a glass shard, about 1.5-2 inches long, sticking out from one of the glass table legs. It could have badly hurt his face or our dog. We spent about an hour stopping the bleeding and getting him to bed, then found old glass swept up beside the table legs. After cleaning it, we heard more glass fall from the table twice while sitting on the couch. It was crumbling apart and clearly had been for a while. We told the property manager about everything, and she replaced the table, but we still felt the condo wasn't safe for our family. They refunded us, and we found another place for the week. I would NOT recommend this particular unit to families with young kids, or pets. It felt neglected and poorly updated despite the description saying it was newly updated. There aren't many pet-friendly options in the complex, but if space isn't a concern, the one-bedroom below this unit may work better for kids and pets. There are other great units in the complex, and in the future we'll leave our dog behind. Such a disappointing condo, with an amazing view.

Peaceful and clean, with a beautiful view.

The view was nice, but the places are small and smelled moldy. For a few grand a week, I don't think it's worth it. Blue Mountain is usually much more upscale.

The pictures online made Blue Mountain Villas #34 look appealing, but it was a very different story in person. The property felt shabby, with holes in the walls, no elevator, and filthy, smelly stairwell carpets. Inside the condo, there was a horrible mold and mildew odor. It was dirty throughout, with stained carpet and sofa, dust everywhere, and patio furniture that seemed ready to fall apart. The photos looked perfect, but the reality was the opposite. After several calls and a visit from management, we were moved to a comparable unit that was fresh and clean. Manager "Jeff" saved our honeymoon stay. It took a bit, but he came through. Another tenant we didn't know came to look at the condo to check whether we were being unreasonable. In less than five minutes, she said, "I would not sleep in here!" #34 needs major attention.

It was a nice stay, but there was no hot water. The place didn't seem to have been cleaned well either: we found Fritos on the floor under the bed, even though we hadn't brought any. There were no brochures about nearby places.
