The restaurant staff were consistently warm, and the service there was very good. The rest of the staff were generally nice too, though it depended on who was working the front desk. The place has a striking retro 50s feel, with bold colors, vintage details, and cozy spots to sit with colleagues. The bar is decent and the pool is gorgeous, one of the best features. The rooms are where the stay falls short. The beds are tiny, my boyfriend’s feet hung off the end, and the mattress was stiff. The blankets felt rough as cardboard, and the walls are so thin they provide earplugs because you can hear everything outside the room. The Wi-Fi barely worked, which was especially frustrating on a business trip. I tried the spa once. Prices were high and the massage was mediocre. Some facilities weren’t operating during that stay, which was disappointing given the cost. I stay here when work requires it, but wouldn’t choose it for comfort or a good night’s sleep. It’s always a rough night, and the style doesn’t make up for that.

We had a great time. The staff were really nice and helpful, and the room was very clean, though dated. The toilets didn’t work well. The heated pool was great on cold nights, the hot tub was perfect, and there’s a great workout room.

The biggest issue was the bathroom. It was small, and the shower had only a partial glass divider instead of a full door, so water got across part of the floor no matter how carefully I tried to avoid it. The water pressure was noticeably low too. My Airbnb unexpectedly had no hot water, so they arranged for me to stay at the Flamingo Resort & Spa for the night. I was disappointed about the Airbnb, but they did the right thing by finding me another place. The Flamingo was a solid, comfortable stay, with clean rooms, a small coffee bar setup, a large heated outdoor pool, a decent restaurant, and friendly service throughout. My room had a separate alcove sleeping area with two twin beds end-to-end, which could be fun for families with younger kids. I had dinner at the restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. The food was above average for an older, somewhat dated resort, and the service was excellent. I wouldn’t call the Flamingo a destination resort, but it’s a comfortable, perfectly respectable option when visiting the Santa Rosa area. A few quirks kept it just shy of excellent.

The best part was how much Mom enjoyed the whole thing. We celebrated Mother’s Day a day early at the Lazeaway Club, sitting outside for brunch. She had a mocktail and avocado toast with maitake mushrooms, while I ordered baked eggs with kimchee in a cast iron pan, the sauce still bubbling. Both were fantastic. We finished by sharing warm, delicious upside down pineapple cake. The service was outstanding, and we’ll definitely be back.

I’ve been coming here for years to get away from the cold Central Bay weather and enjoy the warm temperatures and great pool. The restaurant, design, and whole scene have really good vibes, and I’ve recommended it to lots of friends. Santa Rosa is a little country, but the Flamingo is very inclusive, so LGBTQ guests should feel comfortable here. There’s just one pool and one Jacuzzi, so be prepared for noisy kids sometimes, though there are lots of lounge chairs. I had a particularly good experience with Sophia at the front desk and Mark behind the bar. Both were extremely helpful, courteous, professional, and friendly. We love it here.
