Travelodge by Wyndham Santee

We enjoyed cereal, waffles, bananas, and OJ before getting back on the road. The room was clean, the bed very comfortable, and the shower had perfectly warm water and strong pressure. There was also a microwave and mini fridge we didn’t need, but they could be useful. Check-in was in a cheerful blue-painted room, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. It was just what we needed for an overnight rest along I-95. It was my first two-day road trip with a toddler and a baby, and I was very satisfied with the experience.

The bathroom and sheets were filthy, and the sheets had burn holes. The air conditioner was extremely dirty, too. Gross. How does this place represent Wyndham?

I’d stayed at Travelodge Santee sc many times because the price was affordable, but this stay in room 214 was the worst. I arrived around 9:00 on Monday night and got settled in, then had to leave after my boyfriend and I felt bites. We searched the bed and found a bed bug. We both had red bite marks. The manager said I’d get a refund, but wasn’t apologetic or sympathetic. They made a lot of excuses, including that someone might have stayed there for nine days while their home was being treated for bed bugs. I don’t know if that was the case, but the whole thing was very unpleasant and felt disrespectful and unprofessional. I’d be grateful to get my money back, but I’ll never stay there again. I had only had one previous issue, unclean sheets, which they fixed. Bed bugs are unacceptable. If you’re looking for a place, don’t go there.

I needed a cheap place to stop for seven hours with my dog. I often use Red Roof or Motel 6 for quick stays, but tried Travel Lodge this time. The price was as expected, the location was okay, and check-in was easy. The room was the big disappointment. It needs work and shouldn’t be given to guests. The tub spout was barely hanging on by caulk, the tub faucet needs repair, and the wall had a poor patch job that looked like tape had been painted over. The bed frame squeaked more than normal whenever I moved, and the curtains had stains from something. I don’t usually leave reviews, but for a cheap overnight stop I’d choose another hotel.
