Days Inn by Wyndham Sarasota Bay

We’d booked somewhere else for our IVF treatment trip from Tennessee to Sarasota, but when we arrived around 330-400am, no one was there to take payment or give us room cards. We drove a little farther and found this Days Inn. The man at the counter was professional and helped us with everything we needed, despite the very early hour. It also cost less than the place we’d originally booked. Thank you for the help and hospitality, from the Stinnett family.

The pool has been shut down by the health dept. We reached our room after seeing a nice lobby, and that’s where the good impression ended. The bathroom was rusty, the blankets and sheets were so thin and worn, and the pillows barely qualified as pillows. The dresser was taped together. The bleach smell was overpowering, so we had to leave the door open, and that didn’t make the place feel clean. Save yourself the trouble and move on.

From outside, it looks freshly painted, and the lobby is clean and seems recently renovated. The rooms are a different story. Getting to our door, it was clear that area hadn’t been touched in 20 years. Inside, the furniture was old and weathered, like it had gone 30 years without being repaired or replaced. Even the bed cover looked from that same era. The dresser front had deep scratches that made me wonder what had happened, and pieces were missing from the stovetop. The whole thing made me cringe and want to throw up.

We were only there for two nights, and they were the worst. The bathroom looked destroyed and slapped back together, with a big piece missing from the ceiling light cover. Huge chunks of paint were gone from the doors, the floors were filthy and sticky, and around the baseboards it was disgusting. We found hair in a corner we hadn’t noticed at first. There were only two very small bath towels, and all the towels were dingy gray instead of “white.” The lounge chair looked like it came from a garbage dump. I took pictures of the room and its horrid condition, and I’ll contact Wyndham to report the property. We didn’t realize it was an “outside” property, with entrances directly outside, which we don’t prefer. People were constantly walking around, and they looked like they maybe lived there, though I’m not sure. They seemed sketchy, so we locked our suitcases whenever we went out because we worried someone might break in. My mom used the room hairdryer once after a shower. It got hot enough to smell like burning plastic and burned her thumb. I’d never stay here again. If I could’ve gotten my points back, we’d have left right away.
