Days Inn by Wyndham Sarasota I-75

The room looked freshly renovated and was spotless, which really impressed us. Check-in at the kiosk was unusual, but Aaron, the young man there, was so friendly and warm that it felt like we were talking to a person, not just interacting through a screen. We'd definitely recommend it.

This place was absolutely gross, and I left really disappointed. The floor and doors were damaged, the appliances were rusty, and there were stray hairs and stains that made it obvious the room hadn't been cleaned well. Maybe other rooms are better, or maybe some reviews are paid, I don't know. I get that it's a budget hotel, but using old or misleading pictures of the property is wrong and could be fraud.

There wasn't anyone at reception, so everything had to be handled on a screen through live chat. In the first room we found ants on the nightstand and the bathroom door wouldn't close or lock. The place also felt dusty and dirty, so we moved rooms, only to find a cockroach sitting on the bed in the second one. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The hotel refunded us in full, and I'm glad they did, which is the reason I'm giving two stars. We were meant to stay one night, but found blood on the floor and a broken lock hanging from a nail that someone had put there to keep intruders out. There was a strong smell of weed and alcohol, and the other guests kept their doors open, which felt strange and uncomfortable. The area seemed pretty sketchy, no manager was available, and the electronic check-in attendant was very difficult to understand because his English wasn't good. If you have small children or safety is a concern, I'd avoid this hotel.
