The apartment kitchens are a little tight if you're planning to do much cooking, but the location and amenities are hard to beat. We've come back three years in a row and plan to return. I guarantee you won't find a better spot in Sarasota.

The owner was caring and helpful throughout our stay. She welcomed us when we arrived, checked in as we saw her working around the property, and gave us spot-on ideas for restaurants and activities our kids would enjoy. The property manager was also friendly and attentive. We booked El Tropicale at the last minute for a spring break trip with our family of six and were surprised to find the newly renovated place felt brand new. Our apartment was comfortable for the whole week, with lovely furnishings, decor, and high-end finishes. The courtyard was a favorite too, with a built-in grill, patio tables, lounges, and a hammock for enjoying the Florida sun. We could walk to downtown shops and restaurants, and drive easily to Siesta Key, Venice Beach, and other favorite spots around Sarasota. We had a wonderful family vacation and would love to come back soon.

I won't waste time looking elsewhere next time I'm in town for work or a vacation, El Tropicale is where I'll stay. The owner is around often, friendly, and quick to sort out any questions or problems. The location is ideal, with downtown, restaurants, grocery stores, and bars all an easy walk away. Parking is free and easy, and guests can use the brand new washing machines at no charge. My apartment had everything I needed and more. The amenities are great, and you can see the thought put into the design and ongoing upkeep.

My stay in the Sunset suite was lovely and very clean, and I say that as someone who's very OCD. The grounds were immaculate, the courtyard was beautiful, the decor was on point, and the internet worked fine. The amenities were just as described, and the bathroom was perfectly fine for a rental. My bed was comfortable too, though I always bring my own pillow or at least a pillowcase. I have severe allergies, so I would've ended up in the hospital if they hadn't cleaned thoroughly after guests with pets. The cleaning staff get an A+ from me. I'll stay here again when I'm back in town to check on my new condo. Also, that long one-star review sounds to me like a guest fishing for compensation or a refund. Lovely place!
