Rodeway Inn Sardis

We were stuck in a severe snowstorm with our infant, and another hotel warned us we might not find a room within 50 miles. This place had one for us. I’m so grateful, because otherwise my wife, our baby, and I would have been sleeping in the car.

The evening front desk guy seemed incompetent. Our room smelled of cigarette smoke, with burn holes in the ceiling and carpet coming up. There was mold in the bathroom and only half a toilet paper holder. We had to clean the room ourselves, even the AC, and ask for sheets without stains, holes, or burn marks. The rooms were outdated, poorly maintained, and not cleaned properly.

The AC was caked with mold and dust so thick the air barely came through, and the floors looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in years. The bed had urine and blood stains, and there was puke on the wall, so I asked for fresh bedding and a vacuum. At the front desk, I asked when the room had last been cleaned and showed the woman and a boy who seemed unable to answer me. She came to look, then said the room was “lived in” when I asked if it was supposed to be clean. We paid for a clean room, not a dirty one. The place was filthy, inside and out, and looked run-down. The motel photos seem to be from a long time ago. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. If I can figure out how to post pictures, I will.

The cigarette smell was everywhere, and the place was dirty. I couldn’t stay or sleep there, so I had to leave. They charged about $80 a day, which felt like far too much compared with much better places. It should be around $40. This place really sucked.
