Hamilton-Turner Inn

We really enjoyed being able to walk to Savannah's historic district and the river from this spot. The staff were glad to have us and did a lot to make our visit a good one. When the smoke alarm in our room gave us trouble, they sorted it out and checked back with us. Breakfast was tasty and just the right size, and we liked having port or a cookie to come back to each evening after a day in the city. The amenities were just right. We'd love to return soon.

We were treated kindly by the staff, who answered our questions and brought ice or water whenever we needed it. The area is convenient and most places are walkable. But the room was a real problem. The bed squeaked and shook whenever we moved, and the mattress had no support. Our backs were aching when we left. There were dead spiders on the bathroom floor when we arrived, and my husband had to clear them away. The shower door was broken and very difficult to slide. Breakfast was fine but basic over our three nights: scrambled eggs each morning, with a very well-done sausage patty and pancake with fruit and buttercream icing on the first day; half a croissant, bacon, and fruit the next; then another sausage patty and French toast on the last day. Calling this a “Luxury Bed & breakfast” felt misleading given how poor the bed was.

We parked when we arrived and didn't need the car again until we left three days later. Everything was within walking distance. The Hamilton-Turner was a gem, with friendly, engaging staff and a beautifully decorated parlor where we enjoyed coffee in the morning, tea later, and port in the evening. It was also decked out for Christmas. Our room was lovely and spacious, with two beds and a sitting area, and it was nice chatting with other guests.

We're already thinking about another visit. The setting and location are just right, and the hotel is incredibly beautiful. We were here for our babymoon, and the woman at the front desk was so kind and knowledgeable, going well beyond what we expected with her service.
