The old historic building has a cool entrance, and staff were polite, though they were dealing with the elevators too. I stayed in building 2, so the other buildings might be better, but my room was very dirty, noisy, and in need of major repairs. The elevators were broken, there was no lounge, and the food and drinks were poor. It didn't feel like a typical JW, more like a Holiday Inn with a nice entry. The location is good if you get a great deal, but it isn't worth paying the JW premium. I don't recommend it.

I was in town for my daughter's volleyball tournament, and parking at the convention center was tough. When I mentioned it to Joe at valet, he offered to drive us over. That really impressed me. Everyone on staff was kind and accommodating, and my room was spacious and so clean, which says a lot because I'm hard to please. I just finished a two-night stay and can't say enough good things. I'm a travel advisor and will recommend this hotel to future clients.

I especially enjoyed the art exhibit inside the hotel, one of my Savannah highlights. The old power plant has been converted into a hotel, with a large collection of huge, rare agates and fossils laid out well among similar high-end businesses throughout the building. There are also event spaces available to rent. It's easy to spend an hour or more wandering through the exhibits. This is mainly a review of the exhibit rather than the hotel itself.

I was in Savannah for a work conference, and the hotel had plenty of meeting space for a midsize group. The power plant's history was especially interesting since the conference was for electricians. I also loved the beautiful, impressive art collection on display. Great food and bars are an easy walk away. Savannah had all its southern charm even with cold weather, and I plan to come back when it's warmer. I'm an avid golfer, and Harbor Town @ Hilton Head Island is only an hour's drive away.

The hotel is beautiful and in a great location, but our room assignment led to a sleepless night. We had booked in the power plant section, yet at check-in they put us in 3 Muses next door, facing the city and across the street from saddlebags bar. The bass shook our room until the bar closed at 3 AM. There were earplugs and a sound machine in the room, which should have tipped me off, but neither helped. I've stayed in noisy cities before, and this was the worst. I'd have rated the hotel five stars otherwise, but the clerk seemed to know about the noise issue, so I'm giving it two.
