I’m giving the OYO/Inn on 17 two stars generously. Contactless check-in was convenient, but all the irritating emails before the trip weren’t. The washcloths in the room were still very damp and got the towel wet too. The biggest problem was the thin walls. The neighbors were noisy well past midnight, and the A/C couldn’t help because it only ran while actively cooling, with no "always on" setting. I wouldn’t stay again. Maybe you’ll get lucky with quiet neighbors, but I’d try another hotel in the Savannah area first.

We checked in on Thursday afternoon and went to the office the next morning to leave because the place was so bad. They didn’t seem to care why we were going. We paid for four nights and were charged an extra $50 "refundable" deposit, but got none of our $447.42 back. The listing misrepresented the place, and we then had to pay for somewhere actually safe and clean. Check the crime rate in the area before booking, it’s one of the city’s highest crime areas. The room itself was awful too. Cats were everywhere, there was a gap under the door big enough for a small animal, and the neighbor’s dog barked all night. The king bed sagged in the middle like a taco. Turning on the bathroom light also switched on the vent, which brought in a horrible raw sewage smell. We had no hand towels, just one washcloth, and no floor mat. The heating was loud and kept me awake, so light sleepers should bring earplugs, though the bed itself was comfortable. The staff were great, and I enjoyed the cheese trays and live music in the lobby. I also loved the location next to The Olde Pink House, with everything walkable. I’ve stayed all over the United States, and this was by far my worst stay. The two hours I managed to sleep, I had a gun by my head and a chair against the door. If safety, cleanliness, and comfort matter to you, don’t stay here.

We only stayed a few hours before catching Amtrak, and it was a great little stop at a good Savannah rate. The rooms looked newly renovated, were clean and quiet, and the front desk staff were friendly. Don’t let the outside appearance fool you. I’d recommend it.

For a budget stay in the Savannah area, this place is a step above nearby competitors and offers good hospitality at a great price. I was traveling alone and felt safe, and the bed was cozy. It’s not a luxury hotel, and it doesn’t claim to be. The new owner is very kind and accommodating, and goes out of her way to look after guests. There’s room for improvement, but I can see the new owners are working to make stays positive. If you’re picky, this may not be for you, but I’d recommend it for the value and welcoming service.

The room was a little small, but that may help keep the temperature comfortable. My partner and I found it clean, nice, and a good deal, with most things above average for hotels in this price range. It wasn’t fancy, but the staff were lovely, the bed was large, and we felt safe. The Wi-Fi barely worked while we were there. Trucks and motorcycles on the nearby road can be noisy, so light sleepers should ask for a room farther away. Room 1 is closest to the road, so try for a higher number.
