Homewood Suites by Hilton Chicago - Schaumburg

Parking was scarce and poorly lit, and breakfast was mediocre at best. This is definitely a budget stay in an older building. I also felt uneasy seeing screws fitted to the windows so they could open. I suspect it was for security.

My brother and sister-in-law had a memorable anniversary thanks to the thoughtful help from the front desk and central support. I arranged cake, flowers, balloons, and champagne from a distance, and the front desk woman went out of her way to make it all feel personal. I’d asked for a printed message, but they handwrote it beautifully instead, which meant a lot. The staff showed real care and made the celebration special. I’m grateful for their kindness and attention to detail, and would highly recommend this hotel and team. 💐🎂🍾

I’d recommend this place to business travelers. My important FedEx package arrived, and the staff handled it properly with signatures for tracking. The people were friendly and professional, and the hotel felt clean, comfortable, and welcoming. Rooms are nicely equipped, including a kitchen. Management also organizes social events, like Wednesday dinner, Thursday football, and movie night.

We had to press for a full refund after the manager first offered only half a night, even though we’d spent barely six hours in the room and couldn’t stay there. We did eventually get the full amount back, but the replacement room still smelled musty, and the property felt badly outdated and overdue for renovation. We checked into room 133 around midnight and were hit by an overpowering mix of maple syrup and curry. We waited until morning to ask for another room because it was so late. Then we woke to three crickets crawling around in the bed. I’m a loyal Hilton Honors member and usually choose Homewood Suites for their reliable comfort and quality. This was by far the worst location I’ve stayed at. The experience was completely unacceptable for a Hilton, and I hope corporate addresses the condition and cleanliness because this property doesn’t meet the Homewood Suites standard.
