Maple Leaf Motel

For a last-minute solo ski trip to either Whiteface or Gore, this roadside motel was a great deal and probably the nicest one of its kind. A few things could be better: the carpet felt old and musty, and it would be nice to have the wood floors found in the other rooms. The shower only got lukewarm, not hot. The fridge was noisy, though I unplugged it briefly and plugged it back in without any problems.

Our phones were nearly dead, and we’d almost gone off the road in a snowstorm while heading for the border, so finding this motel felt like a miracle. Booking was simple, and they texted the room number and code so we could get inside and stay warm and safe until the roads cleared. The room was cozy, with very comfortable beds, a fridge with a freezer, and a microwave. It’s a cute, convenient place.

It’s a lovely little place near Main Street, and the stay was great apart from some temperature trouble. It was 10 and under that weekend, and our room felt like 40 when we first got in. It warmed up after housekeeping came by the next morning while we were out, but our friend’s room, which was basically an apartment, stayed cold. I also think thicker blankets would help. Otherwise, we were very happy with the room.

Car trouble left me stranded at night, and Louie went out of his way to help me stay safe, get comfortable, and have something to eat. He also helped arrange a mechanic and a late checkout. The room was cozy and comfortable. There are still good people out there.
