Super 8 by Wyndham Chambersburg I-81

Friendly, helpful staff and a nice indoor heated pool and hot tub. The room had an odor, there was a roach, and the towels were stained. The carpets were stained too and peeling up in places, and the rooms could use an update. Breakfast was hit or miss, and when it was served on time, the selection was slim. For the price I booked at, it wasn’t bad, but I’d pick somewhere nicer if I could afford it.

Not a bad place for one night, and the coupons from the welcome center were a nice bonus. They should do some painting and clean the rugs more. Housekeeping also needs to wash the walls better and remember to check behind the door.

I won’t return to Super8 on Black Gap Road. It’s cheap, but only a place for someone who just needs a room and can put up with one or two roaches. I was horrified to find one sharing the bathroom with me, so I brought it to the front desk. The woman cringed when she saw it. I asked for a discount, and she said she’d have to speak to the manager. I’ve worked in a hotel, and my manager would have contacted that guest right away, though I guess I worked at a finer establishment. The front doors don’t open automatically, something I’d taken for granted at other hotels. The old furniture looked clean and the room had no smell, but the bed felt like a marshmallow, in a bad way, and seemed to be from the 1990s. Our king had only three pillows, so I fetched some from my car. Breakfast was a sad cold continental spread: no fruit, just bread, two kinds of cereal, yogurt, and tiny blueberry muffins. I booked at Super8 Chambersburg because I’d stayed there years ago, without realizing Super8 and the Comfort Inn had switched names. I’d stay at the Comfort Inn, though I suspect the same person owns both. Next time I need a hotel in Chambersburg, I’ll choose La Quinta because I know their standards.

I left without staying a single night, and I’m still waiting on my $200 refund. The front desk said they couldn’t check me out and refund me, and that room service would come in the morning. I wasn’t about to sleep in that bed. There were stains from floor to ceiling, water kept dripping in the shower, a hole in the ceiling, and bugs and hair in the bed. The sheets were disgusting. This is the worst hotel I’ve ever walked into. I’m very upset with the place and its service, and they need to do better.
